A little serious of our mind:

Try to imagine, that your grandchildren can´t speak with you in your language......

Learn your family the language of the roots, so your family - children can speak their language from childhood!

Learn your family the culture of the roots, so your family understand and respect the roots e.g. Mano Po!

is the official anthem of the Pope, the Holy See and the Vatican City State. It is played at solemn occasions of the State and ceremonies in which the Pope or one of his representatives, such as a nuncio, is present. When the Vatican's flag is ceremonially raised, only the first eight bars are played.

Virgen Delos Remedios also known as Nuestra Señora De Los Remedios

was first installed in the Malate Church by the Augustinian priests in 1624, which attracted many devotees. Young Filipino mothers recovering from childbirth or with sick children would come to pray for fast recovery. The practice became habitual through the passing of years and the image came to be known as the Virgin of Remedies and Patroness of Mothers and Children. Devotess would come to the church and offer gifts and prayers in thanksgiving for the favors they received.

ANGELUS (Orasyon in Tagalog)

Remark 3 videos in the album

The Angelus (Latin for "angel") is a devotion in memory of the Incarnation

The devotion was traditionally recited in Roman Catholic churches, convents, and monasteries three times daily: 6:00 am, noon, and 6:00 pm, many churches still follow the devotion, and some practice it at home. The Angelus is usually accompanied by the ringing of the Angelus bell, which is a call to prayer and to spread good-will to everyone on Earth

Hindi Kita Malilimutan - Song for the dead

Every year, Filipinos gather with their families to pay respect to their departed loved ones. As with the other stages of life, death is traditionally commemorated through customs and rituals that usually involve music. In recent times, popular love songs are being sung or played during funerals as people say goodbye to their departed. Perhaps the most popular is Hindi Kita Malilimutan popularized by Basil Valdez and composed by Manoling Francisco, SJ in 1979, with lyrics based on the Book of Isaiah from the Old Testament.

Santa Lucia hymn - song for Santa Lucia day DEC 13.

Collection from around the world

There are two different origins of this tradition.

1.In Sicily, Italy, where it comes from the christianity and Lucia being a saint.

2. That's not the case in the northern part of the world e.g. Scandinavia here it comes from a much older pagan tradition that has to do with bringing light in the time of darkness, as some days of the year you might not even se the sun there, simply just celebrated/marked the darkest night of the year (the midwinter solstice).

It is later on that people started to celebrate the Saint Lucia when christianity became a state religion!

The Lucia night was also holy according to the catholic faith (Many northern countries are or were earlier catholic) so you can say there have been mixes through history, first it was the pagan traditions mixed with the catholic, and then it developed and became a unic celebration in many countries around the whole christian world - both catholic and protestant - that was more and more going towards the christian part of the tradition. and the songs were added quite lately and where taken from the original Italian song and translated into many languages.

Easter Vigil: Papuri Sa Diyos - Tagalog for Glory to God in the Highest

This is the Roman Catholic 'Gloria' sung in Tagalog whose tune was composed by Philippine composer E. P. Hontiveros. The Choir singing is from Cavite City and this was the Gloria on Easter Vigil which proceded the seventh reading (Ezekiel) and preceded the Epistle (Romans). This was performed on the recently restored (2006) Pels & Sons four-manual pipe organ of 104 ranks at the Manila Cathedral, Basilica Minor of the Immaculate Conception, Intramuros, Manila. This is the largest pipe organ in all of Southeast Asia.
